The Bagatelle
Formed from the ashes of The Lost, The Bagatelle was a racially-integrated Boston nine-piece armed with four singers — Fred Griffith, David “Redtop” Thomas, Rodney Young and Willie “Loco” Alexander — whose lone album, 1968’s 11PM Saturday (ABC), was a fine mix of soul-rock covers (“I Feel Good”, “I Only Have Eyes For You” and “For Your Love”) and originals, notably Alexander’s “Back on the Farm” (which got some airplay on WBCN) and “Everybody Knows,” which he originally recorded with The Lost and would revisit yet again a decade later on his 1978 Willie Alexander and the Boom Boom Band album.
