Erik Lindgren
When former Cambridge, current Middleborough resident and Tufts graduate Lindgren isn’t swimming, riding horses, travelling or hunting for old vinyl records, he might be writing contemporary chamber music, releasing eclectic old garage and psychedelic music on his Arf! Arf! Records label, or playing keyboards with the Sonare Wind Trio or the longstanding ensemble Birdsongs of the Mesozoic (which also includes Mission of Burma’s Roger Miller). Throughout the ’80s and ’90s he had a studio in Cambridge where he turned out jingles, soundtracks, and music for corporations, including PBS and the Basketball Hall of Fame. He also puts out original and cover music under the name the Space Negros, has a recording studio 25 steps from his house, and recently happily boasted, “To this day I take pride in saying that I’ve never had a boss, and I’ve never had a straight job.”
