This site is a work in progress to build an extensive online archive aggregating all kinds of material, written and multimedia, about New England’s musical heritage. We’ll be continually adding new information, images, and audio and video clips, so check back regularly. We’ll also link you to the many other relevant sites out there on the Web. And we strongly encourage you to help build this archive by clicking the “You Too” key, and contributing your anecdotes and other material.
In addition to this site, MM/ONE will produce media, special events and traveling exhibits. And our long-term dream is to build a bricks-and-mortar facility with a visitors center and a physical archive to preserve acquired and donated artifacts.
We have two simple criteria for including someone or something in this museum: to have been involved professionally with music in New England at least 15 years ago, and to have made a substantial contribution to the music of this region.
The Music Museum Of New England, Inc. is a non-profit organization operated by a Board of Directors. We are:
Steve Nelson, President and Co-Founder -- former manager of The Boston Tea Party rock club; currently a producer of business video about cable TV and consumer electronics.
Michael C. Fondo, Director of Taxation for The Audax Group, and former Director of Tax Planning for Fidelity Investments.
Harry Sandler, Director and Co-Founder -- drummer for ‘60s Boston group Orpheus (“Can’t Find The Time”); now V.P. of speakers’ booking agency American Program Bureau.
In addition, we are enlisting an Advisory Council to provide us with their input, guidance and support. To date they are:
David Bieber, Phoenix Media/Communications Group
Dean Johnson, Boston Globe columnist and WBZ-AM correspondent who has reported on New England’s music scene for over 30 years
Don Law, Live Nation (formerly Tea Party Concerts)
Dave Marsden, Live Nation
Chip Rives, NEMO/Boston Music Awards and CEO, TRP Sports & Entertainment
David Swartz, leading collector and archivist of Boston concert posters and memorabilia
Wayne Ulaky, former Beacon Street Union bassist and Canobie Lake Park executive
